We are seeking a Global Process Technology Packaging Process Engineer who is a technical expert in all steps of the following: automated packaging process and containers, process setup, container transportation, filling process, measurement, system cleaning, labeling, packaging, palletizing, container specification management and standardization.

- Provide technical expertise and leadership to ensure finished product package offerings, materials and packaging processes meet supply chain, customer and business needs in terms of competitiveness, EH&S, quality, delivery, uptime capacity and cost / cash productivity.
- Primary packaging technology resource for global business and site process engineering teams / resources; proactively engaging leaders and teams and also consulted / engaged in critical packaging related issues, needs and opportunities.
- Lead and engage business & functional teams (Operations, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Technology, Product, Sales / Marketing) to implement packaging manufacturing process and container improvement priorities.
- Create and Lead the global packaging continuous improvement Best Practice team.
- Set strategy / direction for finished product packaging offerings: packaging equipment, and containers.
- Develop prioritized packaging improvement plans that support business strategy, goals and propose KPIs.
- Responsible for structural specifications, standardization and integrity of packaging components in accordance with quality standards, Federal and International government regulations, United Nation regulations and Customer/Marketing objectives.
- Use technical & engineering expertise, cross regional leveraging, and packaging industry knowledge to develop and implement best practices to address package offering, package quality, and coatings filling / packaging operation’s needs. Use Lean, Sigma and other tools and management of change as best fit the need and opportunities.
- Reconcile diverse cross-functional views in defining priorities & plans, gaining leadership alignment and implementing global package offering improvements.
- Participate in external / industry packaging networks and organizations, engage suppliers and customers to gain market and competitive insights as a key element in framing delivered packaging offering, materials, quality and process improvement direction / priorities.
- Work with container suppliers to improve container quality and equipment suppliers with new technology offerings and developments in the packaging space
- Participate in Front Royal site & business CI and managing processes that “touch” packaging.
- Training and development of Site process engineering packaging resources and support commissioning and startup activities as needed.
- Act as the packaging resource in Procurement in strategic and decision board processes and contract recommendations, EH&S and Quality processes as needed, e.g. PSM (Process Safety Management), RCMS (Responsible Care Managing System), RCFA and ISO certification.
- Provide front end loading support for packaging related capital projects, assuring design and plans support defined business and improvement objectives.
- BS or MS in Packaging, Mechanical or similar discipline.
- Experience in a Packaging Engineer role, providing packaging technical expertise and improvement leadership and support from concept through implementation.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Knowledge and use of designed experimentation and statistical data analysis;
- Data gathering and analysis capabilities and background to drive packaging productivity, quality and cost improvement recommendations, priorities and decisions. Justification of capital projects
- Ability to reconcile diverse viewpoints within teams and between teams.
- Effective written and oral communication;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, work and resource in a team environment
- Ability to work globally with different cultures and willing to travel globally 60% of the time
- Experience with Process Safety Management, Root Cause Failure Analysis, Quality systems / standards (e.g. ISO)
- Strong computer application skills, MS Office (Excel, Word and Power Point) & others.
- Lean and Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Warehousing and logistics packaging related background is desirable.
