Axalta’s Tlalnepantla Manufacturing Facility Celebrates 70 Years Supporting the Coatings Industry Around the Globe


The plant produces innovative surface solutions for original equipment manufacturers of conventional and electric cars, light, medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses, refinish applications and color matching systems, among others.

Mexico City, November 22, 2022 -- Axalta (NYSE: AXTA), a leading global coatings company, announced today that its Tlalnepantla, Mexico manufacturing facility recently celebrated 70 years supporting the global coatings industry. The plant opened in 1952 and initially focused on manufacturing automotive refinish products.

Over the years, Axalta has invested in the facility to drive improved production innovation that enables the site to export products to other regions such as North America, Central America, Asia Pacific and South America. Tlalnepantla manufactures the company’s new Cromax® Gen, a next generation basecoat technology, for customers in Latin America, the United States and Canada.

The Tlalnepantla plant is certified as Clean Industry, ISO 14001:2015, Integral Responsibility and Responsible Care 14001:2015 in Health, Safety and Environment. For quality, the plant is certified International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and ISO9000.

Axalta’s Tlalnepantla site has expanded to include a Training Center and the largest Axalta Distribution Center in Mexico. It is one of the company's three manufacturing facilities in Mexico. Globally, Axalta has 47 manufacturing plants.
