Sales Manager for GM Accounts will manage Axalta Coatings business at multiple GM customer assembly plant sites including the development and implementation of business, marketing and technical strategies to maintain and grow the business.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage and develop the Axalta Account Managers and Technical Representatives who work in customer assembly plants and have daily contact with operations personnel up to and including the plant manager
  • Secure and organize resources, including people and materials needed to solve customer technical and production problems
  • Manage the financial elements of the business at the customer interface, including inventory, receivables, selling expenses, overtime, productivity, and cost savings projects
  • Develop and maintain industry business knowledge of customers, suppliers and competitors
  • Manage the introduction of new technologies to customers and manage the impact which customer-initiated changes, such as new vehicle launches, have on existing technologies

 
 
PROBLEM-SOLVING:
 

  • Identify employee development needs.  Coach and counsel to resolve issues and build necessary skills
  • Manage the overall satisfaction of the customer at the assembly plant level.  This often involves urgent problems with large dollar impact on the customers and Axalta
  • Organize and coordinate the efforts of customer and Axalta technical and operations personnel to improve product performance and customers operating processes
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase market share and profitability
  • Identify and communicate customer and business needs and industry trends
KNOWLEDGE:
  • BS degree (Business, Engineering)
  • Knowledge of  OEM Coatings is required, including products, applications, chemistry and customer processes
  • Influence and negotiating skills are required in order to be able to effectively manage business situations involving Axalta and customer employees
  • Previous management experience is required
  • Knowledge of the functions and organizations, which impact customer relations, such as Manufacturing/Operations, Technical, Marketing and Finance, is required.
 
 
This position is located in Clinton Township, MI and requires 30-40% travel.
