  • MS or PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of working experience
  • Experience in managing new product development and product support programs preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervision of technical teams
  • Understanding of structure/property relationships
  • Knowledge in the areas polymer science, dispersion science, and/or coatings formulation preferred
  • Knowledge of designed experimentation, statistical data analysis
  • Experience in lean manufacturing environments and good knowledge of lean principles preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team and fast paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Good command of written and verbal English
  • Good understanding of ISO Certification processes and how to cost effectively use, maintain and continuously improve an ISO certified quality management system in an R&D environment.

  • Lead a group of 15~20 professional chemists/engineers and technicians to support existing product lines and to develop new products and processes for OEM applications.
  • Direct technical research that leads to the understanding of coatings technology and the relationships for paint formulation components.
  • Drive standard lean work flows to meet deadlines and adhere to core operating principles, including safe work practices in compliance with automotive TS16949 and ISO certified Quality Management systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate program progress to determine improvements needed to meet overall objectives and allocate/leverage resources to maximize results.
  • Effectively collaborate with technical, product group and operations to prioritize work and address future needs.
  • Provide coaching on technical and managerial issues, nurture strong performers on the technical ladder.
  • Responsible for work group safety performance.
  • Drive the development of intellectual property for key innovations.
  • Function as key contact on teams related to quality, management of change, or others
  • Develop and implement staffing strategy and plan for work group. Attract, retain, and develop strong technical bench.
  • Identify needs for capital expenditure to improve core technical competency for work group and support execution of capital projects.
  • Prepare and manage budget for work group.
