A new name - AquaEC

Today, we are adopting AquaEC as the single name for our entire E-Coat portfolio. A single name with a single purpose, the AquaEC portfolio of products will continue to provide a unique combination of science, technology and process understanding to support commercial applications.

The AquaEC brand family includes all the Axalta electrocoat products available today – the full CorMax™ and ElectroShield series as well as the line of products that already use the AquaEC name. While the names of the products may change, everything about the individual products – quality, formulations and technology - will remain the same. Behind every product, we will continue to deliver the same outstanding support and service from the same people who serve our customers today around the world.

AquaEC offers both anodic and cathodic systems. The major advantages typically noted for the cathodic process are its capacity to offer higher levels of corrosion protection and higher throw power. Cathodic e-coat application also avoids oxidation on the workpiece which helps improve corrosion protection. Anodic application can lower process costs, simplify control requirements and reduce sensitivity to variations in substrate preparation quality. A disadvantage for anodic coating is that small amounts of metal ions can migrate into the paint film which may limit the film performance properties. Axalta’s team of E-Coat specialists can provide technical support to facilitate the selection of the appropriate application.
