Peter Maier’s Stingray Now on Exhibit in Axalta’s Customer Experience Center

Visitors to Axalta’s Customer Experience Center in Concord, NC, can now see Stingray, a legendary piece of art from famed fine artist, Peter Maier. Maier is world-renowned for his “impossibly real” art featuring animals, automobiles, people, and products. He is the only artist of his kind to use automotive coatings in fine art and most of his work is created from just eight (8) colors and a unique layering style that allows him to achieve additional colors. He has been using Cromax waterborne coatings in his work since 1993.

Maier has been a longtime partner of Axalta. He came to know us while he was in his role as Senior Automotive Designer for Cadillac, Pontiac and Chevrolet Motor Divisions of General Motors (GM).  In 1980, he left GM to pursue art full-time and now his work can be found in galleries around the world.

Stingray, valued at $250,000, is on display in the Center’s lobby through spring of 2020.
