Axalta welcomes MTA students for WorldSkills Regional Competition

As a sponsor of the 2022-2023 WorldSkills Australia Vehicle Refinishing competition, we continued our support of the regional competitions this week by welcoming a group of MTA NSW apprentices. The 1-day competition took place on Monday 28th November and was well supported by MTA apprentices and staff.

Six apprentice spray painters from regional and metro NSW put their skills to the test over a full day, following Worldskills competition requirements of producing a two-tone panel with design and decals along with a colour match to be completed in a set timeframe.

The competitors had an enjoyable day, despite the stress of competing, while judges and staff had a hard job marking the individual competitors!

The Gold Medal was won by Kynan Bonanno of Ultimate Vehicle Refinishers (Sydney), the Silver Medal went to Braeden Lemke of Phillip Hunter Smash Repairs (Lismore), with the Bronze medal being awarded to Bryceson Gordon of Sampson’s Car Repairs (Tamworth). The three winners also walked away with brand new Sagola spray guns as prizes.

We congratulate all the competitors and thank the MTA for supporting their apprentices to compete in this WorldSkills event.
