Axalta Wins Three 2026 Edison Awards for Breakthrough Innovations

Axalta Coating Systems [NYSE: AXTA] Axalta Coating Systems has been awarded three prestigious 2026 Edison Awards, recognising the company’s latest innovations across automotive customisation, electric vehicle safety and artificial intelligence-driven colour technology.

Widely regarded as one of the highest honours for innovation, the Edison Awards celebrate technologies that demonstrate outstanding impact, value and ingenuity. Axalta received two Gold Awards and one Bronze, reflecting the breadth of its innovation portfolio and commitment to solving complex industry challenges.

Among the winners is the EcoNextJet™ digital automotive painting system, which received a Gold Award for enabling on-demand vehicle colour customisation at production scale. This breakthrough technology allows manufacturers to move beyond traditional paint limitations, offering virtually unlimited design possibilities without compromising quality or efficiency.

Also earning Gold recognition is Alesta® e-PRO FG Black™, a fire-resistant powder coating developed to enhance safety in electric vehicle battery systems. Engineered to withstand extreme temperatures, the coating helps delay fire propagation in rare thermal events, supporting improved battery protection and vehicle safety.

Completing the awards is TintMaster AI, which received a Bronze Award for its innovative use of artificial intelligence in paint manufacturing. By leveraging advanced data modelling and predictive capabilities, the system improves right-first-time performance, reduces material waste and enhances production efficiency.

“Receiving three Edison Awards in a single year reflects the extraordinary breadth and depth of Axalta’s innovation engine,” said Robert Roop, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Axalta. “Each of these technologies addresses a critical inflection point in their use, whether that’s enabling OEMs to offer truly personalised vehicles at scale; supporting improved safety in electric vehicle batteries; or using the power of AI to solve the persistent challenge of colour variability in paint manufacturing. We are proud that the Edison Awards program has recognised these breakthroughs.”
