Axalta Extends Partnership with Hanwha Defence Australia for Redback Vehicles

Axalta Coating Systems has been selected by Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) as the coatings partner for the AS21 Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle program being delivered under LAND 400 Phase 3. The agreement further strengthens the relationship between the two companies and builds on the successful partnership established for the Huntsman family of vehicles under LAND 8116.

Representatives from Axalta and HDA marked the milestone at the Land Forces Conference in Perth, celebrating the continued collaboration between the two organisations. Under the agreement, Axalta will provide specialised military coatings, application training and technical support to ensure the highest standards of quality and durability are achieved throughout the painting process.

The AS21 Redback vehicles are designed to operate in some of the most demanding environments and conditions, requiring advanced coating systems capable of delivering long-term protection while minimising maintenance requirements throughout their operational life. Axalta’s specialist military coatings team has worked closely with Hanwha in both Australia and South Korea to support these requirements.

Michael Busch, Military Program Manager at Axalta, said: “Axalta is extremely proud to extend our partnership with Hanwha into this next exciting fleet of vehicles. The strong relationship that has been developed over many years between our teams, both here and in South Korea, will ensure the finished product delivered to the Commonwealth will be of the highest possible quality and provide the greatest possible support to Australian soldiers.”

This latest agreement reinforces Axalta’s ongoing commitment to supporting Australia’s defence manufacturing sector and demonstrates the company’s capability to meet the demanding quality, performance and technical requirements of military vehicle production programs.
